Slowly Healing

Just a quick post to let everyone know that I am doing fairly  well.  Although I am not pain-free, my pain is significantly reduced from last week.  The strength in my arm on the affected side is gradually returning;  at one point last week, I was not able to use my arm at all.  Scary!!

As long as I do nothing at all, I feel myself getting steadily better.  On occasion, this has been difficult to achieve as I've had all the kids with me for most of this time.  Friends, neighbours and my parents have all pitched in to help as driving is the one thing which really aggravates my condition.  Living in a rural area, this is sometimes impossible to avoid.

I've had the odd set-back in my recovery, but mainly I'm progressing forward.  I'm just being impatient with the slowness of the healing;  a symptom of being middle-aged, I guess!

I would like to thank everyone again for all their best wishes.  It means a lot to me!

  2. Are you wearing a neck brace? If not, why not?

  3. My first doctor felt that wearing a neck brace for any length of time results in weaker neck muscles, exacerbating the problem. I'm seeing my regular doc tomorrow; I'll ask her opinion.

  4. Remember please the body does usually a fine job at healing itself, if we are patient and don't try to 'hurry it along' with too many medical interventions.

  6. Very encouraging news - though bearing in mind that recovery still has some way to go. I'm sending positive vibes from over the 'pond' in the hope that your next progress update will reveal continued improvement. Best wishes, pal.

  8. Left foot, right foot, left foot, right foot....
keep going - slowly and patiently with the knowledge that there are many others in the world who care that you make it in your own way in your own time.

  9. Impatience with recovery is a sign of youth, my new friend! Screw the middle age label! Yes, we're not able to hit a grand slam like we did at 20, but we're still able to hit a few home runs!

  10. I'm with you being impatient at recovery. Everyone tells you just because you are middle-aged things take longer, which in general may be true. I say test it every once in a while just to make sure they aren't making you wait too long.

  12. "I've had the odd setback in my recovery..." If you quit wanking off to internet porn, your neck will heal quicker. Jeesh - I thought that was obvious. LOL

Feel better soon. In the meantime, you have the offspring to torture with household chores. Make them go get you some weird flavor of ice cream at 10 o'clock at night and then send them back because, "That's not what I wanted!" LOL

  13. RG: you hit a lot closer to home with that remark than you could have imagined. All I can say, "It takes one to know one!!"

Since I was having numbness in my foot, hand and arm on that side, I was gravely concerned that my ... er.. equipment was still in working order. After six days of non-use, I had a test run this afternoon .... success! a real gusher!!!!
